Even though not always stated in a horror film, survival is the main focus for the characters in this genre. No matter what kind of entity or monster you are dealing with, surviving terror is what make horror movies what they are. For any horror actor, a horror survival kit should be essential. A kit to make sure you do not see that light at the end of the tunnel.
1.) A working form of technology.
No matter how bad your outcome might be, I would think you can find some way to make some form of a call or some cry for help. So many horror films could have ended less brutally if they just had this in their kit.
2.) A loving partner to help you survive.
Sure, any partner would help but the optimal one is someone that cares for your plight on an emotional level. This could be the type of journey that would help your relationship with this person gel more.
3.) A cross
Putting asides your actual religious beliefs, a cross in your kit helps in an interesting way. It is even better if you get a priest involved in the mix. Of course a priest is perfect when you need an exorcist or help warding off something like a menacing vampire.
4.) A car
Pretty much forgotten in horror films, a car helps to out run someone/something or even get you to a safe shelter. This is definitely something we should think about more.
5) Clothes
Even though you can't exactly plan these things and of course clothes are essential for regular life, it helps to be comfortable in what your wearing when you are terrified or being stalked by something.
6). A weapon and knowing how to use it properly.
A weapon is a key to survival in a lot of film genres but even more so with horror films. It really helps to know what you are doing with a weapon. If not, you leave this world with some bad karma.
It would seem common sense and essential to have something like a horror survival kit in horror movies but then again there is a reason so many deaths in horror movies and we can't jeopardize that. These kits should really be at your local Walmart for everyone's sake.
Awesomely creative post Alex!
